AgroBioTek specializes in providing scientific and technical services to the food, agricultural and veterinary industries. At the present time, AgroBioTek has offices and laboratories in Honduras, Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, with physical presence in 7 cities.

AgroBioTek was founded in 1995 in Tegucigalpa, capital city of Honduras. In its origins, it concentrated on providing serologic diagnostic services to the poultry industry and then it extended its scope by offering diagnostic services to those industries producing animals for human consumption, i.e. bovine, porcine, shrimp and tilapia industries. To complement its services, soon afterwards, AgroBioTek also began working with the food and agroindustry in general, providing training and microbiological testing services.

In 1997, in order to provide laboratory and training services to the most industrialized region of Honduras, AgroBioTek inaugurated its laboratory in the city of San Pedro Sula; a positive experience that opened the door to the expansion of its services to Maracay, Venezuela in 1998, to Guatemala City, Guatemala in 1999, to San Salvador, El Salvador in 2000 and to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 2001. Recently in 2006, AgroBioTek has also established a regional office in Maracaibo, Venezuela and in Managua, Nicaragua.

Our practical experience since 1995 has resulted in the conformation of the AgroBioTek Group that at present consists of two Strategic Business Units (SBU); one oriented to providing technical and scientific services to the food and agroindustries, and the other to the veterinary industry, with emphasis on those industries that produce animals for human consumption.

The principal services provided to the food and agroindustry are:

• Inspection and auditing services to food processing plants and to kitchens of hotels and restaurants.
• Consulting services to food processing plants oriented towards obtaining an international HACCP certification, applying the principles of an Integrated Quality System in the context of ISO 22000.
• Educational and training services, consisting of seminaries, workshops and courses directed to personnel working in the food processing and agroindustry, of the public and private sectors.
• Laboratory services consisting of microbiological analysis in support of the production and manufacture of food products that are safe for human consumption.
• Sale of diagnostic reagents, materials and equipment used by the food and agroindustry.

As to the Strategic Business Units that works with the veterinary industry, its main activities are:

• Educational and training courses in the interpretation of serologic results and in the diagnosis of the most important infectious agents that affect the veterinary and animal production industry.
• Serologic monitoring services to evaluate the efficiency of vaccination programs.
• Veterinary diagnostic services to detect field infections in the poultry, bovine and porcine industries.
• Molecular biology diagnostic services for the poultry, bovine, porcine and shrimp industries.
• Diagnostic veterinary services for human companion animals.
• Sale of diagnostic reagents, materials and equipment used in the veterinary industry.

At the regional level, AgroBioTek is made up of a group of professionals with different but complementary backgrounds and experiences that have a very precise knowledge of the needs of the food, agricultural and veterinary industries of the Central American and Caribbean countries. It is these human attributes that have given us the capacity to provide our customers with services and products that fit the individual needs of their businesses; be it private or public enterprises. Furthermore, AgroBioTek has established strategic alliances with international companies and experts of world renown; thus broadening its capacity to offer services of the utmost quality to the food, agricultural and veterinary industries.

AgroBioTek supports itself by providing services and sales to the private sector, be it by payment for the provision of sporadic services or by contracts that establish the provision of services for a given period of time. Additionally, AgroBioTek has also coordinated the implementation of Integrated Quality Systems in the food industry, particularly in food processing plants, acting as the Coordinating Institution under Contract for NGOs, International Agencies and Governments.
